This appointment is tailored and designed for animals with chronic conditions or conservative treatment in older animals, it is booked following an initial assessment or referral. A few of such conditions are as follows:

  • Canine Hip Dysplasia

  • Canine Elbow Dysplasia

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Spondylosis

  • Muscular dystrophy (myopathy)

  • Chronic joint disease

  • Kissing Spine

Each appointment begins with a full assessment as follows:

  • Static Assessment (standing animal still)

  • Dynamic Assessment (walk and trotting in a line)

  • Manual Assessment (assessing tissues and structures)

  • Treatment (massage, stretching, electrotherapies etc)

  • Treatment Plan 

  • Demonstration of required exercises

 

After the treatment I will discuss the areas of concern and how the plan will target them. We will develop a manageable plan and discuss further appointments.

What to know before appointment.

As you have been registered prior to this appointment I will not require any forms for your appointment. However I may contact you prior to the appointment if I need an additional insurance form. If I feel the condition is worsening or deterioting at an unusual pace I will refer you back to the referring vet for evaluation. I will do this on your behalf.

Sometimes additional therapies, for example hydrotherapy and acupuncture can assist with chronic conditions. I can discuss the benefits of these and provide a list of qualified individuals which could help.

Please keep record of your animals progression throughout the plan, a diary is a brilliant way of documenting any improvements, difficulties, behaviour or regression. I will ask for an update at the beginning of each session to make sure the plan is suitable and if not I can tailor it.
