Animal Rehabilitation
A pain management consultation is designed for animals who are suffering from pain as a result of a condition or injury. This generally follows a veterinary referral or initial consult where pain is the primary concern and it focuses on alleviating pain relief to allow further rehabilitation. Every session included a full assessment as follows:
-
Static Assessment (standing animal still)
-
Dynamic Assessment (walk and trotting in a line)
-
Manual Assessment (assessing tissues and structures)
-
Treatment (massage, stretching, electrotherapies etc)
-
Treatment Plan
-
Demonstration of required exercises
After the treatment I will evaluate the progression of pain, if it has improved then we will continue with the plan, however if there is regression I will adjust or refer you to your vet depending on the pain response regression.
BE
READY
What to know before appointment.
When booking a pain relief appointment it follows an initial or referral appointment therefore you will not require any forms for your appointment. However I may contact you prior to the appointment if I need an additional insurance form. If there is regression and no improvement I may refer you to the referring vet for an evaluation therefore I will send a referral form on your behalf.

Please keep record of your animals progression throughout the plan, a diary is a brilliant way of documenting any improvements, difficulties, behaviour or regression. I will ask for an update at the beginning of each session to make sure the plan is suitable and if not I can tailor it.

If your animal is on medicated pain relief (prescribed by your vet) please keep detailed records of your adminstration, if you finish your course or if the vet has lengthened/adjusted the course. Please take note if your animals behaviour or health changes in response to the medication (diarrhoea, vomitting, passing blood, refusing to eat etc)
